DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN MICHIGAN

WARNING: If you believe that you are in danger of becoming a victim of domestic violence, call 911 immediately.
Our Victim Support & Advocacy Groups section also lists groups such as the Council Against Domestic Assault that can help.

Domestic violence is the crime that keeps on giving, by perpetuating the cycle of violence that engulfs our homes and our streets. It is gratifying to see that Michigan is among the state that are beginning to gather better information about the problem, so that we can begin to end this scourge that takes a toll on us all.

As the statistics on officers assaulted and killed verifies, police put themselves at risk whenever they arrive at the scene of a domestic violence call. At the time of the crisis, the police have few tools beyond arrest. But the key to long-term solutions for communities is to develop local leadership that can address domestic violence in anticipation of the crisis events.
