BASICS FOR MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER

Please read through the Netscape instructions, to get a sense of the challenges involved. Again, the goal is to erase (1) the cache and (2) the history folder (and those Registry files for Windows 95 owners). The following are instructions for MSIE 3.0 (for other versions, use the Help button for assistance):

  1. To clear cache - Click on View->Options->Advanced->
Under Temporary Internet Files, Select Settings->Empty Folder->
  2. To erase the history folder -- Click on Go->Open History Folder->,
then either select individual files to delete by clicking on then, or choose Select All, then delete.

NOTE: The Michigan Victim Alliance wrote letters to both Netscape and Microsoft on December 3, 1998, requesting their help in identifying the best way to deal with these issues. We have yet to receive a response from either company, but we will post their advice, as it becomes available. Remember -- if you think that your online surfing record could put you in danger, use the computer at your local library or some other place that's safe.
